Programs

ManUP

ManUP is a two-year residential discipleship/leadership program that teaches the basic concepts of spiritual and life-skill training. The purpose of the ManUP program is to provide urban young men the spiritual, emotional, relational, educational, and economic tools to break the cycle of fatherlessness by challenging and teaching them to become loving and responsible fathers and Christian leaders in their neighborhoods.

Hustle City

Hustle City (HC) is a financial literacy and social enterprise program in partnership with Crosswinds Church and New City Church which teaches urban adults to manage and save their money. HC also provides basic tools to start a side “hustle” business to help them become financially self-sufficient. All ManUP residents are required to participate in HC.

The NET

The NET (Nurturing and Educating Teens) creates group mentoring activities as needed such as the online learning pod, the adventure learning lab, and the used bike repair/resale shop to develop life-on-life mentoring opportunities for fatherless and under-resourced teens. UTM students that desire a mentor are screened and matched with a Christian caring adult to meet regularly in a one-on-one or small group format.

Hype Remix

Hype Remix is a youth program where under-resourced high school teens experience God in the urban context. It meets every Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00. Activities include Bible study/prayer, small groups, open gym basketball, board games, retreats, KAA summer Camp, canoe trips, and other relationship-building activities.

Urban Transformation Ministries Institute

Urban Transformation Ministries Institute (UTMI) equips the church at large to minister to the fatherless and urban poor through training workshops, seminars, college-level classes, internships, and consulting, along with weekend and week-long urban immersion trips to urban neighborhoods in Grand Rapids.
